Flight Medic (Eric)

The guys are joined in this episode by Eric (not the one you are used to). He shares his experiences as a flight medic, exploring the unique challenges and responsibilities flight medics face. They discuss the importance of experience, teamwork, and safety protocols in high-stress situations, as well as the logistics of air transport and the types of calls flight medics typically respond to. The conversation also highlights memorable experiences and the evolution of flight medicine as a critical component of emergency medical services. The guys talked about the unique experiences specific to flight medics which requires an equally unique skillset to deal with the technical difficulties and emotional toll of critical care. They also explore decision-making process in emergency situations, the necessity of safety training, and the evolving conversation around mental health in emergency services.

Eric is a pediatrician in Denver, Colorado. He started his medical career as a volunteer EMT in Blacksburg, Virginia. He practiced professionally as a Cardiac Tech for Richmond Ambulance Authority. He attended VCU Medical School and completed his pediatrics training at The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter's in Norfolk. He currently is a partner at Pediatrics West, and an associate professor at Rocky Vista University.

Ryan Frank

Ryan Frank has prosecuted criminal cases since graduating law school in 2012. He's handled everything from petit theft to homicides with a focus on child-victim crimes. Before going to law school, he served in the Marine Corps with two combat tours in Iraq.
